Microsoft Outlook Now Connects with Linkedin, Facebook & Myspace

Three words: About damn time. How many times have you wanted to know more about the sender of an email without having to copy/paste their name into Google and do some online espionage? Ever Yeah me too. Well now you can.

Microsoft Social Connector screen shotMicrosoft is launching a new service today called Outlook Social Connector (OSC), which will link in users’ Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace accounts to their inbox. It essentially adds a new element to the contact information which enables you to click on it and see the latest status updates across all of the social networks. In addition, if you click on a message from someone you will be able to view their latest LinkedIn activity… craziness!

I don’t have much more information than that, and still working on snagging some more screenshots, but this is exciting news. Its Outlooks attempt at really trying to make an everyday activity a more socially-savvy one, and I fully support this awesomeness.

For those of you wanting to jump right in keep in mind it opens in beta today with the LinkedIn capabilities, but you will have to wait until June for the Myspace and Facebook plug-ins. They are lining it up with the Office 2010 release.

I’ll keep this post updated with more information as it is released.
