Job Boards/Job Resources on Twitter

Here it is...the most comprehensive list of where to find jobs on Twitter. I’ve been conceptualizing this post for a while. I was finally motivated this morning after reading Using Twitter for Job Search, a post by Louise Fletcher, a fellow career blogger. Fletcher outlines the different ways a twitter-lover can use their tweets to search out jobs and land them. She does a great job of stressing the importance of connecting with the right people and sharing quality information. After reading it I was left wondering. “What job boards are taking advantage of this partnership opportunity?

I've long wanted to put together a comprehensive list of job boards on Twitter. I did some research on which big brand job boards are embracing the Twitter platform as a way to reach potential users. Although there are a number of them squatting on their brand names, not many of the bigger boards are very active. Nice work folks. There are a few exceptions however (@indeed for example) and us of course (@theonlinebeat).   I surprisingly came across a number of boutique boards spanning both geographical territories and niche industries. Many of them are working incollaboration with websites, but some are simply a community of users posting jobs for in a specific niche. As the Twitter community continues to grow, I can't help but be aware of how it could drastically change the future of online job searching. It will be an exciting ride that is for sure.

Below is the list of job boards/job search resources I found, that were active enough to make the list, please let me know if I have missed anything…

 @authenticjobs: “An astutely savvy blend of talent and opportunity.”
 @fish4accjobs: “Accountancy job search & recruitment”

 @indeed: “one search. all jobs.”
 @jewish_jobs: “Got a Jewish Job to post?”

 @lacraigslistjob: “Jobs in L.A.”
 @libgig_jobs: “Library Jobs”
 @media_jobs: “Jobs in media”
 @medical_jobs: “Medical jobs”
 @monstercareers: "Tweeting career advice and discussions"
 @mtltweetjobs: “PR/marketing/social media/tech jobs in Montreal.”

Joanna, Nice job.

Joanna, Nice job. Statistically, it has been show that job boards don't work for executives and senior technical professionals. Perhaps you can group your list according to job boards (great for individual contributors), job search engines, and job posting sites (not gateways, but actual job postings by hiring authorities). This would be valuable to help people spend time where it is most valuable.

I am surprised LinkedIn doesn't have presence...they certainly have a huge base of jobs and job seekers.

I'm not surprised Linkedin

I'm not surprised Linkedin has no Twitter presence. They have a hard enough time with customer service and their response times to issues. They're always working hard on that aspect of the service.

For example: Historically, they've hid/obscured every phone number that could reach anyone inside and the likelyhood you'll find them on yahoo IM, which their customer service leads used to sit online and answer questions to provide occasional help is in my experience somewhat limited. You have to scour discussion boards across the net for any avenue to reach people there directly.

You'll also note they have a blog but offer no direct outlet for commentary.

The last thing they want right now is to set up another firehose that would be turned into an avenue to receive/process complaints, so Twitter is out of the question in their current model.

All of that said, they are the #1 Work-Related Social Services Site on the Web in my opinion, and more power to them as more people realize they have to network to get that next great job.

Hi! Great list - people can visit my page on Examiner.com and they will see Top 10 Seattle Jobs, Top 10 Seattle Tech Jobs, Top 10 Seattle Finance Jobs and Top 10 Seattle Healthcare Jobs.

I also recommend that people become more creative than sending resumes to postings - in fact I don't recommend it if it can be avoided. 90% of the time (or more) hiring managers, corp recruiters and HR reps will never read your resume, so better to be a little more creative. Our twitter feed @VoltRedmond is new, but growing at a steady, measured pace.

Last month, we relaunched our local blog at www.voltinsider.com and have begun work building a presence on LinkedIn (http://tinyurl.com/8d5khh), as well as on twitter, @VoltRedmond .

We post "hotjobs", with a limit of no more than 3-4 new jobs twittered per week targetted at Program managers and IT professionals, with regular posting of technical and job-hunting articles. Our site isn't a job-board per se, but a more localized blog on the branch and recruiter level.

So if you live in the great Pacific Northwest, please feel free to take a gander.
