TwitterJobAlerts.com: Automate Your Job Search

I know what you are thinking—"ughhh not another job site!" Or maybe you are thinking—"noooo not another Twitter article!" Well stop rolling your eyes. No really…stop. Fine, go ahead, but atleast give me a paragraph to entice you to read further. Here is the elevator pitch:
twitterjobalerts.com homepage
Imagine entering the job you want and the location you want in to a site, and having it scan Twitter 24/7 for any tweet that matches your request and then informs you on the matches.

Oh look at you… catch your eye did it? Twitterjobalerts.com does just this. It’s powered by Careerbuilder and enables you to tell them what job you want and they track Twitter for matches. With so many Twitter accounts out there posting job openings and ao many others set up to help people find jobs, I think this is an excellent supplement to their efforts. It’s like Google Alerts for Twitter and job openings. I love the concept.

Right now the site is pretty new so the options are somewhat limited. For example the only way to be informed of the matching tweets is by direct message, word has it the site is trying to build out a summarized email of the postings, or at least an alternative to the direct message option. Another limitation is the applications that are compatible, right now only Twitter.com (both web and phone), Twitteator (iphone) and Twitterberry (blackberry) are supporting the TwitterJobAlerts platform, but there will most likely be more as they fine tune the site’s functionality.

Even with all of that in mind, I can’t help but think this is going to be big. So many of us spend our days scanning Twitter and Twitter Search for job openings, we follow certain accounts, we hashtag (#) job titles, and so on. This site aims to streamline the job search process on Twitter from the other side…it allows the jobs to come to us!

I think its brilliant. Have any of you tried it out? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hey Delfin, sorry you are having issues. It definitely is in the early stages and I know it got a lot of coverage yesterday and today, maybe too much coverage? :)

Hopefully they figure it all out, great concept to push forward with!

@joannalord

Good marriage of technology.

Good marriage of technology. Can I tell it I don't want to relocate for 5-10 years and get alerted then? Unless of course there is a wheelbarrow (or three) of cash involved...then we can discuss it.

Sorry, but it doesn't work,

Sorry, but it doesn't work, at all!
I mean the website seems to be frozen, veeeeery Beta version!
