Motivational Monday Moment Goes to… Mike Folsom
Okay here goes. Round two. This is the second Motivational Monday post. For more information on what this is all about be sure to check last week’s post where Dan Schwabel reminded us this recession is an opportunity to try new things, something that might even scare us.
This week there was a lot of tweeting about perseverance. It seems more important than ever to push past our comfort zone and boldly face the challenges at hand. This recession has enabled so many of us (either willingly or not-so willingly) to take chances.
But what separates those that will succeed and those that don’t? Which ones succeed? The answer…working harder then the rest. This week’s motivational moment goes to @silixell. Here is what he reminded all of us:

I’ve heard this quote before, in fact a number of times over the years. I remember holding onto it when I was getting my M.A. and working late into the a.m. hours, and I remember repeating it to myself during nights at my first job (and my second, and my third) when so many of my colleagues were at happy hour and I was crunching excel spreadsheets, hoping to find patterns in the numbers. But right now…this quote seems particularly relevant.
It could mean so many things. Maybe it means if you stay the extra hour to hit deadline you will get another paycheck rather than a pinkslip. Maybe it means if you send another resume you will be the one called for the first interview over other names in the pile. Or maybe all it means is if you keep looking toward the future rather than feeling bad for yourself then you will be the one that finds some sense of happiness, when others will let it pass them by.
Either way, this tweet was worth spotlighting. Take from it what you want, but hopefully it helps you start the week off on a good note.
