Obama Needs a Twitterer…Could it be you?

Are you looking for a job? Are you a social media addict? Would you be willing to relocate to the snow-covered D.C. area? If you answered yes, yes & yes…well I have a job for you…

Obama Twitter Social Networks ManagerYou could be Barack Obama’s Social Networks Manager. {throws red, white & blue confetti at you}

A few days ago, my.barackobama.com posted an opening for a Social Networks Manager position, with duties including (but not limited to) managing the social messaging of the President of the United States via Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. In addition to excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and a serious work ethic, the posting also states that the Social Networks Manager will “work closely with the rest of the New Media department to execute grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.” Talk about an exciting gig.

Currently the position is held by Mia Cambronero, but she is stepping down soon…which leaves the Obama administration “looking for someone who is available to start immediately.”

So why am I blogging about it? Well seriously…how often does a job like this come along? I know we usually help all you job seekers understand how to use social media to land a job, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let you all know just where using social media as a tool can get you…it could land you in the White House people! Okay maybe not in the White House, but you get what I am saying.

A few things to note though—you are taking on a huge challenge here. As noted already by other bloggers, you are expected to fill some big shoes, and all while taking on some huge feats. If that doesn’t scare you though…and you don’t like work/life balance (the position notes specifically this is NOT a 9 to 5 job) then this might just be the perfect gig for you.

Did we mention the snow?

No seriously…you could be running the social media campaigns for Obama. What the hell are you waiting for? Apply here.
