Finding a job in the restaurant job can be tricky. The restaurant and hospitality industry in general has a very high turnover and is seasonal in its hiring patterns. There are times through-out the year that restaurant managers will go on hiring sprees for both part-time help and more permanent administrative positions. There are also times of the year that a restaurant may be hiring more bartenders than servers or more servers than cooks, and vice versa. The thing to remember is that no matter when you are applying there is a restaurant or café out there looking for help. It’s the nature of the industry. What you need to do is stay consistent with your job search patterns and really put in the time. You also need to have your resume updated and fine-tuned for a successful first impression. When applying for a restaurant job you should be able to demonstrate qualities like professionalism, hard-worker, good with people, works well in teams and more. When you have an interview with the hiring manager or general manager of the restaurant you need to demonstrate particular knowledge of their niche cuisine and atmosphere. Study their websites, menus, and drink lists. Show that you are serious about landing a job at this particular restaurant. If you do all of this you will be leaps ahead of the competition. Best of luck & Happy Job Hunting! |
