Tools & Resources
Looking to gain an edge on the competition? Below we have listed links and summaries of some free online tools and other resources worth checking out as you seek your next job.
Job Trend Tool
http://www.indeed.com/jobtrends
Indeed.com has a great tool which allows you to insert the job industry you are interested in and see if the numbers of jobs are on the rise or on the decline. This helps you gain a sense of job demand as well. If more people are searching than you have a better idea of how competitive your job search task will be.
Research Companies

Have you ever heard “look before you leap?” Well this site is the job search equivalent of that advice. The Vault allows you to research companies and read online reviews, experiences, and sometimes even warnings—Yikes! It’s a great way to get a sense whether you would fit into a company’s work culture, and in the long run could save you a lot of time and energy when applying for jobs.
Explore Your Options

Okay I am a bit skeptical about these “Career Aptitude Tests,” but I must say they come in handy when you are thinking about a total career move. It’s best to find out what your strengths are and what kind of activities you want to be part of your everyday life. Career Explorer offers a free assessment that only takes a few minutes. Although its probably not your best move to count on these too intensely, this one is worth taking if only to get you to start thinking about what you really enjoy doing.
